The information extraction in DocProStar happens typically in three steps.
In a first step classification technology is used to determine the class/category of a document. The classification is based either on key words, document layout, document content or semantic information or any combination hereof. Once the document type/class is known, DocProStar applies in a second step self-developed extraction procedures to find case relevant information like names, addresses, numbers, amounts, dates, tick boxes, signatures etc.

In a third step the information retrieved is going through automatic verification (plausibility testing) and in the exceptional case when certain confidence levels are not reached the information is presented to a human eye/hand for final validation. At this moment in the process DocProStar fully understands the document structure, document type and all the relevant business information and is also in the unique position to exactly know the geographical document location of the latter (what information is where on any given document).
