I am in the process of acquiring a 1990 lull 644 highlander forklift. It works fine except the tilt on the forks has an interesting problem.

It has the joystick controls. When you move the joystick, it presses a button that makes the cylinder go. Here is the deal. When you move the stick to tilt the lever, it lurches a tiny bit (seemingly in the wrong direction) and then does nothing for 10 seconds (does not load engine down or anything). Then the forks start moving in the right direction at a normal speed. If you stop moving them, you can restart them in the same direction normally without delay, but if you move it in the opposite direction, it lurches a little bit in the way it was going before (seemingly, but hard to tell; again tiny tiny lurch), does nothing for 10 seconds and then moves at a normal speed like it is supposed to. The shop has taken the valve apart and cleaned it, but it still does it.

Pump and lower pressures to operate the main spools. Meaning that when you move the joystick it opens a valve or valves directing oil pressure to a piston which actuates the main valve body spool that corresponds to the function you are using. You have probably heard of air over hydraulics?? This is essentially hydraulic over hydraulics.
